Visits
Southern California & MYron R. MOOre
"MYmoo701"
July 24, 2010 thru August 3, 2010

After arrival in the San Fernando Valley, CA, on Saturday, July 24, 2010, the Traveling Boxcar(TB) was routed first over the recently (and still being) constructed Harvey Division(HD), of The Palm Tree Central(PTC).

The HD of the PTC is a 8' x 20' 'racetrack' twin loop, (semi-outdoor) layout setup in a screened patio, and is a 'test bed' to compare the effects of 'the elements' on Lionel's FasTrack vs (L)'s (& other mfgr's) OGA tubular track.

The TB meets a NJT commuter train near Trolley Town

MYmoo701's PW #646 w/a newer Railsounds 2 tender, pauses
the TB(and train) in front of Trolley Town

The GLANCY TRAINS Special Event Boxcar #2 shares the train with the TB, enroute to it's next destination.

(Trolley Town ia a simple automated '027' layout where three trolleys
each stop and leave two stations in turn, all 'automatically')

Bobby Abram's (San Fernando Valley,) Canbydon Cloud Central(CCC), an overhead 'carpet central', was the next stop for the Traveling Boxcar(TB), on July 24&25, 2010.

The CCC features a multitude of stations, spanning a century, along it's route.

'DIESEL' picked up the Traveling Boxcar from the CCC's Lower West yards.

The Traveling Boxcar is placed at the head of MYmoo701's CC 'Madison' cars,
being pulled by an original PW Lionel #646, with a later RS2 tender.

The Traveling Boxcar was placed in this 'crack' express,

...to expedite timely delivery of it's cargo of Medical 'Reefer'.

A TMCC AEC #57 siderod switcher spots the Traveling Boxcar in front of the
Nuclear Reactor plant on the CCC's Lower West yards, located at desktop height.

On Sunday, July 25, 2010, the Traveling Boxcar was seen at the Toy Train Operating Society "TTOS" Southern Pacific Division (TTOS-SP), Anaheim, CA, meet.

The TTOS-SP monthly meets normally feature a multi-gauge 'club' layout,as well as two to ten 'micro' or 'mini' layouts,
built by members.

TTOS-SP members are encouraged to build their own micro or mini layouts,
and/or bring trains in to run on the 'club' layout.

The TB first was seen behind a freshly painted TTOS - SP 'Black Widow' SD-9 on the 'club' layout.

The TB awaits pickup on Larry Carpenter's COCA-COLA themed 'mini' layout.

An Erie Triplex(2-8-8-8-2) with auxillary tenders heads up a UP mixed train.
The TB is the fifth car back in this long train.

The TB provided tool support to the 'leased' NYC 'JET' as it tested the 'club' layout for high speed running conditions.

The TB and the 'JET' pass by on the way to it's next destination.

Angels Gate Hi-Railers:
The Traveling Boxcar(TB) visited the Angels Gate Hi-Railers(AGHR) on Wednesday, July 28,2010.

OGR Forum member, "AGHRMatt" Johnson's new C&NW A-B-B-A F-units & matching caboose provided power
for the train consist that included the Traveling Boxcar.

The Traveling Boxcar(TB), passing through SoCal orange groves.

"Breaker, Break! This is the California Hippie, ...Elvis has just left his Pink Cadillac to get a better view of the TB!..."

The TB passes AGHR's middle staging yards.

Through the desert, the TB passes by Remy's Red Rocks.

"Honey, You forgot your lunch!" The train slows to allow the brakeman to get his 'vittles'.

The TB passes over the AGHR 'showpiece' curved trestle.

A workman prepares to unload several beds(pallets) of oars from the TB, destined for HOWIE'S OAR HOUSE.

The TB has been loaded aboard a barge, enroute to it's next destination.

MYron R MOOre's (MYmoo701 on the OGRForum,)
The Palm Tree Central(PTC), was the last stop in CA, for the Trveling Boxcar(TB), on Thursday, July 29, 2010,

The Palm Tree Central is a 4'x8' FasTrack, over and under, double helix, 'temporary'* layout, located above a pool table
in a screened-in patio in the San Fernando(CA) Valley.

The TB passes by a Transformer house on its way up the first spiral incline.

"Homey" Homer, watches as the Glancy Trains Special Event boxcar and the Traveling Boxcar pass.

A SantaFe 0-8-0 leads the Traveling Boxcar train up the hill.

A fisherman shows off his catch as the Traveling Boxcar passes behind.

The Traveling Boxcar loaded with additional California treasures,
heads East on it's way to it's next destination.

* The PTC will soon celebrate it's third anniversary, not too bad for a 'temporary'' pool table central'.
The PTC's base is a sheet of 4'x8'x1/2" plywood atop of five plastic dairy cartons atop the pool table.
NOTHING on the PTC is fastened down, this includes trestle bents and track.
