655-24 VIDEO is a variant of NTSC, and is the video
standard developed and used by Image Transform and Video Image for playback
purposes, when synchronizing with motion picture cameras shooting at 24.022
FPS, the standard frame rate for motion picture production. It has the
following characteristics:
INTERLACED SCAN - identical to NTSC.
FRAME RATE - 24.022 frames per second, which equals
48.045 fields per second. Even though the frame rate is not exactly 24
FPS on many occasions, we generally refer to 24.022 video as 24 frame video.
NUMBER of HORIZONTAL SCAN LINES - 655 lines, which
consists of 615 lines of image information, with the remaining lines serving
the same vertical interval functions as in NTSC.
